Heritage

The library has been buying books and receiving donations for over 150 years. Its collections have remained intact, resulting in an enormous wealth of literary material under one roof.

Some works and small-scale publications are extremely rare. Because they cannot be found at other major libraries in Belgium or abroad, researchers come to consult them here. Other works are extremely valuable because they were printed in limited and/or luxury editions.

Unusually for a ministerial library, Foreign Affairs has many such works on its shelves. Through somewhat dated, they nonetheless remain a part of Belgium’s cultural heritage.
