During the six years following the publication of the Basic Healthcare strategy paper in 2002, the new, facilitating architecture and paradigms were fleshed out, prompting a thematic evaluation of the health sector and the Be-cause Health discussion paper, which was the fruit of a participative process between all Belgian actors involved in international cooperation. All this constitutes the basis for a new memorandum designed to guide Belgian policymakers, development cooperation attachés and anyone else involved in the political dialogue about health policy at the local, national and international levels.

On 24 November 2008, the Minister of Development Cooperation adopted the policy paper entitled "The right to health and to healthcare". Read this policy paper (PDF, 4.88 MB)

On 17 April 2007, parliament adopted the policy paper on "Belgian development Cooperation in the domain of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights".
