Communicating about Europe

Belgium, as one of the founding members of the European Union, is focusing its communication strategy on sustainable organisation of its Presidency of the EU in the second half of 2010, which will for the first time be part of a trio with Spain (first half of 2010) and Hungary (first half of 2011). This partnership is one of our key abiding assets in developing closer ties with citizens, with a view to maximising the effectiveness of our implementation of a coherent communication and information policy about the European Union.

As part of its efforts to implement the management partnership concluded with the EU institutions for the period 2008-2011, the Belgian Presidency of the EU intends to get citizens more involved in the EU decision-making process by stepping up the public debate about the European Union so as to help ‘communicate Europe’ in the Member States and on the international stage.
