European ministers of International Development today agreed that digital technologies should play an important role in the European development policy. Belgium is one of the driving forces of 'Digital for Development' on the European level. Member States also discussed the European consensus on Development for the first time today.

Today, in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Cooperation Alexander De Croo organised a meeting about an improved use of data in the international migration policy. The meeting was organised together with Mali's Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdoulaye Diop and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). In his opening speech, Minister De Croo argued powerfully for the improved use of digital information to map the different aspects of migration. At the same time, he warned for data abuse and called for clear ethical standards.
