Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Development Cooperation Alexander De Croo decided to make available an additional grant of 7 million EUR for the Least Developed Countries Fund. He makes this announcement in the margins of the COP23, the UN Climate Conference which is currently on-going in Bonn. With these extra resources, Belgium wants to help the most vulnerable countries to become more resilient against the impact of climate change.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Cooperation Alexander De Croo decided to allocate an additional 15 million euros this year for the fight against climate change in the Least Developed Countries through the Global Environment Facility (GEF). This aid brings the total multilateral climate finance allocated by Minister De Croo in 2016 to 25 million euros. Also this year, the Belgian Development Cooperation accounts for at least half of the Belgian commitment to international climate finance.
