Belgium takes an active role this week during the European Development Days, which will focus on the rights of girls and women. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Development Cooperation Alexander De Croo organizes together with the Be-cause Health platform a special session on the role that Europe must play on sexual and reproductive health and rights. He will also launch an international campaign which will focus on gender equality, women empowerment and women’s health.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Cooperation Alexander De Croo, together with Unilever CEO Paul Polman, today brought together a group of Belgian top CEOs to exchange views and discuss the importance of sustainable international development. He did so at the start of the European Development Days, the most important European forum for international development that takes place today and tomorrow in Brussels. Alexander De Croo is the initiator of the Belgian SDG Charter that acts as a bridge between international development and the business community. Paul Polman is an advocate internationally to closely involve the private sector in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
On June 7th and 8th, the European Development Days are organized in Brussels. This is the most important European forum on international development. This edition of the European Development Days focusses on the involvement of the private sector and the importance of digitalization as a lever for development. These subjects are central also in the Belgian international development policy.
