In the margins of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders participated at the Ministerial Conference on the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). This treaty aims at introducing a complete and worldwide ban on nuclear tests. Unfortunately, the treaty could not yet enter into force because a group of eight countries (India, Pakistan, North Korea, Iran, China, Israel, Egypt and the US) has not yet joined it. Belgium currently holds an international mandate to promote the entry into force of the CTBT.

In the margins of United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders calls upon all member states to reinforce their commitment to protection of civilians in armed conflicts and the respect of international humanitarian law. Even wars have limits. Killing innocent citizens and humanitarian aid workers is never acceptable. For this reason, Belgium organized an event in cooperation with the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Youth representatives from all over the world will discuss gender equality today in the margins of the General Assembly of the United Nations. The debate takes place under the impetus of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Cooperation Alexander De Croo. Together with a few UNICEF youth leaders, the presidents of the Flemish and Francophone Youth Council will also join the debate. Queen Mathilde will address the youth delegates.
