Have you lost your passport? Report this as soon as possible, by telephone to DOCSTOP via the (free) number 00800 2123 2123 or +32 2 488 2123. Or, in person, at your municipality, embassy or consulate.

If your passport has been stolen, you must report the crime as well to the local police.

This will help you avoid the risk of fraudulent use of your passport and the possible financial consequences.

Loss and theft of passport (or identity card) abroad

If you are the victim of loss or theft abroad, you will probably need a temporary passport to return to Belgium or your place of residence. Contact the Belgian embassy or consulate in the country or region where you are.

If there is no Belgian embassy or consulate, you can also contact an embassy or consulate of another Member State of the European Union (see European consular assistance).
