9 December: International Anti-Corruption Day

9 December is the International Anti-Corruption Day. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders welcomes the adherence of our country to the “UNCAC Coalition Transparency Pledge", a political engagement for the international fight against corruption. Minister Reynders is also pleased with the current evaluation, by the United Nations, of the Belgian engagement in the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).
These engagements show that Belgium is committed to a world governance respectful of the rule of law and international standards on human rights. We advocate the principles of transparency and integrity of public and economic life, good governance and openness to civil society as essential conditions in the international fight against corruption.
The UNCAC Coalition is a global network of more than 350 civil society organizations committed to mobilizing civil society action for UNCAC. It aims to promote UNCAC, which is now the only universally binding legal instrument available to the international community to combat corruption.
