Belgium keeps leading role in the protection of children in armed conflicts

In the margins of the opening of the 72nd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders took part today to an event about the protection of children in armed conflicts.

He spoke with children rights’ specialists who are active in conflict situations. Belgium plays since a long time a leading role for children in armed conflicts.

The Minister took advantage of this opportunity to confirm the commitment of Belgium on this issue, certainly if Belgium is elected next year for a non-permanent seat in the Security Council. Didier Reynders discussed also with the Special Representative of the Secretary General for Children and Armed Conflicts about new possibilities for collaboration.
