Belgium welcomes third direct flight to China

Starting from today, direct flights will connect every Tuesday and Thursday Brussels with Shenzhen. Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders welcomes the opening by Hainan Airlines of this third new direct flight between Belgium and China.

Shenzhen is located in South China, on the border with Hong Kong. With 11,4 million inhabitants, it is considered as the Chinese capital of technology and innovation. Shenzhen is situated in the Pearl River Delta, a region with about 62 million inhabitants also called the ‘Silicon Valley’ of China. The expansion of Brussels Airport’s network to one of the world’s most dynamic region offers new opportunities for Belgian business.

Hainan Airlines has been a trusted partner of Brussels Airport for over 10 years. The airline launched a direct connection to Beijing in 2006. Since last October, it operates also a direct flight from Brussels to Shanghai. With Shenzhen, Hainan Airlines opens the third direct route to China from Brussels Airport.

The launch of this new direct connection illustrates the growing interest of Asian airlines for Brussels. On March 25th, Hong Kong based Airline Cathay Pacific will launch the first direct flight between Hong Kong and Brussels.
