Didier Reynders welcomes publication of additional results of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) into downing of flight MH17

Today, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), comprised of the national investigation authorities of the Netherlands, Ukraine, Malaysia, Australia and Belgium, has announced additional results on the criminal investigation into the downing of flight MH17 in Ukraine in July 2014. The crash cost the lives of 298 people, amongst them several Belgian citizens.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders has full confidence in the quality and independence of this criminal investigation.

The Minister calls upon the international community to continue to support the investigation and calls upon all countries to cooperate fully with this investigation, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2166 (2014), so that those responsible can be brought to justice.

Belgium will continue its efforts to bring all facts to light and to ensure justice is done independently, fairly and transparently for the victims and their families.
