A new Belgian airline and a new direct connection with Hong Kong

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders welcomes the launch today, 6th of June 2018, of the first direct passengers flight between the Brussels-South (Charleroi) airport and Hong Kong by the new Belgian airline Air Belgium. The company intends to increase the frequency from two flights per week to three in July and four in October.

This new non-stop connection is the fifth between Belgium and China and, in only a couple of months, the second with Hong Kong. It is the first flight operated by a Belgian carrier.

This new direct flight between Brussels-South and Hong Kong brings closer two of Asia and Europe most prosperous regions, with a thriving economy and a rich touristic potential. Both are gateways to huge markets with a high purchasing power. With the seats of the European Union and NATO, Belgium is host to the world’s second largest diplomatic community. Hong Kong is one of the most important international financial centers.
