New Foreign Affairs spokespersons

Matthieu Branders is the new spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. Since August 1st, he took over from Didier Vanderhasselt who is leaving Brussels to take up his post as Ambassador in Pretoria. As of today, Karl Lagatie joins the team as deputy spokesperson.

The new contact details of the spokespersons of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development cooperation are as follows:

Prior to his new role, Matthieu Branders was deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was previously seconded to the Office of the Secretary-General after having been posted to the Belgian Embassy in Singapore and in Tokyo. He also worked a number of years abroad as a legal advisor.

Karl Lagatie served until recently at the Belgian Embassy in Washington. He was previously posted in New York (UN) and worked in Paris (OECD) and Brussels (EU) before entering the Belgian Foreign Service.

Matthieu Branders and Karl Lagatie are also the spokespersons for B-Fast and the National Security Authority. These are collegial bodies which are composed of several federal ministries, including Foreign Affairs.
