Didier Reynders welcomes publication of provisional results of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) into downing of flight MH17
This afternoon the Joint Investigation Team, comprised of the national investigation authorities of the Netherlands, Ukraine, Malaysia, Australia and Belgium, announced the interim results of the criminal investigation into the downing of flight MH17, which cost the lives of 298 people. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders welcomes the results of the independent investigation. The JIT has made important progress.
The criminal investigation into the downing of flight MH17 needs the continuing support of the international community. Minister Reynders encourages all states to cooperate fully with this investigation, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2166 (2014). Those responsible for the downing must be held accountable. The countries involved in the JIT are making progress on an effective way of prosecuting those responsible.
Belgium will continue its efforts to have all facts revealed and to ensure justice is done independently, fairly and transparently for the victims and their families.
