Large-scale projects and real estate operations

  • We continued our work on building the new chanceries in Abuja (Nigeria) and Jakarta (Indonesia).
  • In Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), we made progress with the renovation of the embassy compound.
  • We prepared the construction of new chanceries in Mexico and Beirut (Lebanon), as well as the renovation of the embassy compound in Brasilia (Brazil).
  • We finished the construction of the new chancery in Yerevan (Armenia).
  • We refurnished our residences in Ankara (Türkiye), Addis Ababa, Luxembourg, and New York (US).
  • We sold some properties that we no longer used, in Kinshasa (DR Congo), Lima (Peru), and Libreville (Gabon), among others. With the income obtained from those sales, we fund construction and renovation projects in other posts.

Security

  • We acquired armoured vehicles for our posts in Islamabad (Pakistan) and Jerusalem, among others.
  • We took some measures to scale up security in our posts in Addis Ababa, Beijing (China), Bujumbura (Burundi), Kinshasa, Luanda (Angola), Paris (France), and Rabat (Morocco), among others. Those security measures include CCTV systems, alarm equipment, access control, and perimeter enhancement.

Sustainability

  • We boosted the energy efficiency of our buildings in Ankara, Bujumbura, Dakar (Senegal), Los Angeles (US), Rome (Italy), Santiago (Chile), Tunis (Tunisia), and Washington (US).
  • We bought low-energy cars (electric or hybrid) for our embassies in Addis Ababa, Lisbon (Portugal), Manilla (Philippines), and New Delhi (India).

We made our chancery in Canberra (Australia) more accessible to persons with reduced mobility.
