233.978 Belgians registered on Travellers Online in 2025

Last year, 233,978 Belgians acted on our recommendation and registered on Travellers Online before going abroad. This ensures that the FPS Foreign Affairs can easily inform and assist travellers whose holiday destination is affected by a crisis.

For several years now, our FPS has used Travellers Online. This tool allows Belgians who wish to travel abroad to register their trip. When a crisis occurs in the country where you are staying, it helps our embassies or consulates to swiftly get in touch with you. Such crises can be political or involve natural disasters, attacks, …

The Travellers Online tool allows you to save a great deal of valuable time in the event of a crisis. After all, if you have not registered, either you or someone close to you will have to notify us of your presence in the country and give us your contact details.

It is best not to assume that crises can only occur in remote, exotic destinations. Unexpected issues can arise in Europe or in neighbouring countries such as Luxembourg and the Netherlands as well. That is why we heartily recommend that you register on Travellers Online for every trip abroad, even if it only lasts a couple of days.

Moreover, it is certainly useful to regularly consult our travel advice during your stay. That allows you to keep up with the latest developments.

111,047 registered trips

For the sake of completeness, we also wish to point out that 111,047 trips were registered in 2025. This is a smaller amount than the number of travellers because some people tend to travel in groups and register it as a single trip. This represents a noteworthy 56% increase compared to the 71,063 trips that were registered in 2024.

Top 10 registered destinations in 2025-2026

Not every Belgian has yet picked up the habit to register on Travellers Online when they embark on a journey. Moreover, people especially tend to register when they travel to remote destinations. That is why the following top 10 paints a somewhat distorted picture yet still offers an indicative view of the most popular destinations for 2025.

Belgium appears on the list because people who start their trip in Zaventem, also mention this in the overview of their trip.
