Checks relating to fiscal measures (collection of custom taxes, VAT, …) and non-fiscal measures. The non-fiscal measures are included i.a. in the “safety and security” framework. As a gatekeeper of the external borders of the European Union, Customs ensure that the imported, exported or transiting goods comply with international, European or national regulations regarding prohibitive and restrictive measures. Customs perform a real “stop function” in order to set up such controls and thereby cooperate closely with the authorities responsible for these specific measures.
4) Authorities in charge of other export, import and transit licences for weapons, military and paramilitary equipment and dual use goods and contact points for specific exports to Iran, Syria and Russia
