The evaluation of Belgium’s SRHR (sexual and reproductive health and rights) approach began in July 2025. The aim of this evaluation was to examine, from 2017 onwards – the year in which the SheDecides initiative was launched with a clear commitment from Belgium – the relevance, coherence, effectiveness and sustainability of Belgian interventions in the field of SRHR. The evaluation examined SRHR programmes and projects implemented between 2017 and 2024 by Enabel and actors of the non-governmental cooperation (ANGC). Attention was also paid to multilateral actors.

For the field phase, the evaluation focused on four partner countries of government cooperation, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, the DRC and Uganda.

The evaluation is currently in its final phase, with a public presentation of the results scheduled for the end of May 2026. A response from DGD, Enabel and the ANGC is expected in the summer of 2026.
