Evaluation of the integration of decent work into the development of value chains

Progressing towards Decent Work in value chains?
  1. Last updated on

Since 2013, decent work is one of the priority themes of the Belgian Development Cooperation. This evaluation examined the integration of decent work within the interventions of Belgian Development Cooperation with a focus on the development of sustainable (agricultural) value chains.

The interventions examined were funded by DGD and implemented by Enabel, BIO, non-governmental cooperation and specific programmes such as Trade for Development Centre and Beyond Chocolate.

The aim of the evaluation was to draw lessons and provide concrete recommendations to improve Belgium's approach to decent work, more specifically for private sector development and sustainable (agricultural) value chains.

Six study missions took place in Africa (Benin, Ivory Coast, Rwanda), South America (Ecuador) and Asia (Vietnam).
