The Special Evaluation Office of the Belgian Development Cooperation (SEO) is pleased to invite you to the restitution of the evaluation of the Belgian fragility approach that will take place on the 5th of December 2024 from 9 am to 12.45 pm in Room Arenberg (Egmont Palace, Place du Petit Sablon 8, 1000 Brussels). A walking lunch is planned between 12.45 pm and 2 pm.
11 of the 14 partner countries of the Belgian governmental cooperation are classified as fragile in the OECD's States of Fragility report (2022). The evaluation examined whether the policy framework and instruments of the Belgian Development Cooperation are sufficiently adapted to fragile contexts and what results are achieved in these contexts. The aim of this evaluation is to draw lessons and formulate recommendations for refining or adapting the Belgian fragility approach.
The independent evaluators (C-Lever) will present the evaluation findings and recommendations, followed by a Q&A session. Associate Director of ECDPM - Peaceful societies and accountable governance Sophie Desmidt will provide a keynote speech. After the break, there will be panel discussions that go deeper into some key findings and recommendations.
The restitution meeting can be followed on-site or online and will primarily be conducted in English and French. Participants can intervene in English, French or Dutch.
Please, confirm your attendance before the 25th of November. Kindly inform the SEO if you can no longer attend in-person or if you change from following online to on-site.
