The Department P2 is also responsible for the logistical and technical management of events held at the Egmont Palace and the Conference Centre.
These cover both internal events organised by the FPS Foreign Affairs and external events organised by other FPS or external, public or private institutions/entities/organisations.
Internal events relate to the activities of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the various Directorates General of the FPS Foreign Affairs and those of the Minister of Development Co-operation and the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade. These are primarily political interviews, meetings or working lunches with Heads of State, Heads of Foreign Governments and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and senior representatives of international organisations visiting Belgium. These meetings can take the form of bilateral meetings but also participation in international conferences and workshops. The events can also involve representatives from economic, artistic and social circles. The logistics management of other, more formal events such as the presentation of decorations by the Minister of Foreign Affairs or the organisation of official dinners also feature under the responsibilities of P2.
External activities are also organised at the Egmont Palace and the Conference Centre which can be hired by Belgian and international companies and organisations for paid events.
Given that the Egmont Palace is an official building of the Belgian State, it cannot be hired by foreign diplomatic missions. In principle, it cannot be used as a venue for private events such as birthdays or wedding receptions.
