Consular missions

The P1.2 Department ensures the provisions laid down by the Vienna Convention of 24 April 1963 on Consular Relations, primarily with regard tax privileges and  jurisdictional immunities, are applied to consulates and their staff.

In practice, the Department is responsible for opening consulates, appointing consuls and, with specific regard to career consulates, issuing special identity cards to permanent staff and their family members. The Department also requests various documents from the competent authorities, follows up litigations and produces the Consular Guide, Consular Corps badges and so on.
